Founder's Bio: E.L.K.'s Randall S. Winters

Private Equity and Financial Sponsor Investment Banking
Mr. Winters has practiced in an investment banking capacity for nearly twenty years, many of which were spent as a senior member of the Financial Sponsors Group of Deutsche Bank and its predecessor entities, including Bankers Trust and BT Alex. Brown.

Mr. Winters has extensive experience working closely with private equity funds in a variety of buyout financing and portfolio company exit roles, as well as in certain fund raising responsibilities. He has originated and/or executed a wide variety of transactions in these capacities, including:

  • Equity and high yield new issues;
  • Debt and equity private placements;
  • Securitizations;
  • Senior credit facilities;
  • Equity co-investments;
  • Mergers and acquisitions advice; and
  • Private equity fund raising.

Mr. Winters maintains close relationships with bankers, corporate attorneys and private equity firm clients, many of which have lasted ten to twenty years.

Global Family Office Group
Prior to forming E.L.K., Mr. Winters was a senior relationship officer within the Deutsche Bank Global Family Office Group, headquartered in Chicago. He was primarily responsible for building and expanding the relationship base of family offices and consulting/advisory firms, and bridging the chasm between the Investment Bank and the Private Wealth Management sides of the firm through joint execution of complex transactions for highly sophisticated investors.

Mr. Winters built a network of investors seeking advice and creative investment ideas in the alternative investment asset classes. He maintains an active dialogue with family office and institutional investors, many of whom are recognized as leaders in their respective communities and marketplaces.

Mr. Winters holds a BSBA from Boston University and an MBA from the University of Chicago's Graduate School of Business. He holds the Series 7, 24, 28, 63, and 65 licenses and formerly practiced as a Certified Public Accountant in Illinois. Mr. Winters has been a guest lecturer of private equity financing at Northwestern University's Kellogg Graduate School of Management.

Among other charitable endeavors, Mr. Winters is the Chairman of the Budget and Finance Committee and member of the Executive Committee and Board of Directors of the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center.
